The Almond Tree: A Luxury Homestay in Jodhpur

Jodhpur, known as the blue city in the Rajasthan state of India was one of our stops during our last 2 weeks in this massive country. We were only planning on staying a few nights before continuing on to Jaisalmer but that all changed after we checked into The Almond Tree.

This Luxury Homestay in Jodhpur is more than just a place to stay. It feels like home from the moment you arrive. We stayed for 4 nights in complete comfort and quite honestly we never wanted to leave!

The Almond Tree Location

After traveling through India for about 2 weeks, arriving at The Almond Tree was a true retreat in the heart of Jodhpur. Situated amongst a quiet area within the same neighborhood of the Umaid Bhawan Palace, you will feel safe knowing that there is 24-hour security at all entrances & exits.

The Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the largest private residences in the world, is home to the royal family and will be your neighbor for the duration of your stay. And yes, this palace is where the famous couple Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra got married!

Due to its tranquil location just outside the old town, you’ll find complete serenity at The Almond Tree. And luckily, the old city clock tower is just a mere 3.3 km drive, making it quite easy to get to by UBER or tuk tuk. The Luxury Homestay is also located close to the Jodhpur airport, train station and bus stops.

The Team

The owner Chetan and his team are what really made our stay so memorable. Every single person there is very kind, welcoming, and attentive from the moment we arrived all the way through the end of our stay. They are available 24/7 to help with any of your needs, no matter how big or small.

We absolutely felt like family by the time we left and we are sure to be back in the future! We really can’t thank the team at The Almond Tree enough for their hospitality and attention to detail during our stay!

The Rooms

The Almond Tree has eight spacious, comfortable and beautifully designed rooms. There are 3 suites, 2 superior rooms and 3 deluxe rooms. All of the charming rooms are named after a flower, ours being the Sunflower room.

Our room was one of the superior rooms which has the most comfortable king sized bed, a separate seating area and a desk. They also include all the amenities to make your stay as easy as possible.

All of the uniquely designed headboards are made locally by a craftsman in Jodhpur. And many of the other unique pieces you will find in the rooms are sourced from places within India.

The bathrooms at The Almond Tree are probably the largest and most luxurious I have seen! There is a huge walk-in shower, tons of storage space and square footage big enough to do yoga! There was even a hair dryer! I haven’t seen one of those since I stepped off the plane in India!

The Terrace

The rooftop terrace was a real highlight of this luxury homestay and our favorite place to escape the hustle and bustle of Jodhpur. The garden is gorgeous with colorful flowers and lush greenery everywhere you look. There is a large, circular jacuzzi providing the perfect space to relax and cool off after a hot day of exploration.

On either side of the jacuzzi you will find a seating area perfect for dinner under the stars and a pergola where we practiced our daily yoga.

They have plenty of yoga mats you can borrow and will even have an instructor come to teach a class if you’d like!

Additionally, you will have a view of Umaid Bhawan Palace and at night it is lit up quite beautifully. The terrace was easily our favorite place to hang out if we weren’t lounging in our room or out exploring!

The Restaurant & Food

The food here was absolutely divine. Even after we left we were still talking about how delicious the food was! From their continental breakfast to their über fresh local dishes, the chef at The Almond Tree is top notch.

All of their local Indian dishes require about an 1.5 to 2 hours of preparation so you know you’re getting your meal made to order. Some of our favorite dishes were the butter chicken with chapati and the vegetable kathi roll.

They do have an all day menu which makes it super convenient if you want to spend the entire day relaxing in your room or chilling on the terrace! We definitely did one day and were sure to order our lunch from this all day menu!
